Terry Townsend

Author of: American Whitetail Deer Hunting Tips and Resources

A Little About the Author

Having spent the youth of my life in a small community called Only, TN, where my parents lived at the time I was born. I received a valuable foundation block for my life. I knew that I would always prefer and try to remain as close to my roots as possible. The simple, down to earth, honest to goodness country way of life would always be me at heart. My love for the outdoors and deer hunting stems from these early years I spent in Only, TN.

My favorite place in the entire world to be is in the deep woods of Tennessee , whitetail deer hunting. Over the years, I have spent thousands of hours in the woods, scouting, tracking and observing, photographing, hunting, and harvesting whitetail deer. Over the years, I have endured all types of weather in order to be out there when the deer were active. When you spend a great deal of time doing anything, you naturally will get good at it if you apply what you learn. You will get even better at it if you truly love to do it. This is the way I feel about whitetail deer hunting and why I feel qualified to write this book. I have taken some nice racked bucks over the years and for probably the last 30 of those, as many deer for the freezer as I needed.

Whitetail deer hunting has been my passion for the last 35 years, and this book for the last six. I'm not a "know it all" type of person by any means, but I have all these years of valuable whitetail deer information, based on experience and research, to share with you. What makes my background of information valuable to most deer hunters is that it is based on whitetail deer hunting on open, primarily unmanaged land or local area timber and farm land. These are the types of hunts that most of us hunters experience every year. It takes dedication, patience, a certain amount of drive and determination, knowledge, and oh yes, a certain amount of luck at being in the right place at the right time. Hunting the whitetail deer is not as easy as it use to be because they have become wise to many of our tactics. To be able to hunt on a deer ranch where the deer are dependent on these land owners for their quality of life, would be an out of the ordinary situation for me, and naturally is not as difficult to be successful.

I will feel a great sense of accomplishment if this book helps hunters become more productive, as I believe it will. It is my ultimate desire that this book will not only enlighten our young hunters, but also bring them closer to their parents, or other role models through deer hunting. This in turn will help create a stronger family unit and hopefully keep them on a better life path.
